Consumer PR Account Manager

This growing and well respected Manchester PR agency is looking to appoint a new Consumer PR Account Manager to join their lively, dynamic and friendly team.


Clients will cover toys, games, children’s festivals, shopping centers and live music festivals.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Liaising on a daily basis with clients and the media, often via telephone and email
  • Managing client accounts
  • Relationship building and networking with colleagues, clients and the media
  • Monitoring the media, including newspapers, magazines, journals, broadcasts, newswires and blogs, for opportunities for clients
  • Working as part of an account team to develop client proposals and implement the PR activity
  • Preparing regular client reports and attending client meetings
  • Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media
  • Promoting news stories and features to the media, known as ‘selling in’
  • Collating, analysing and evaluating media coverage
  • Event management, including press conferences and promotional events
  • Attending and promoting client events to the media
  • Assisting with the production of client publications, such as in-house magazines; commissioning market research
  • Coordinating studio or location photography
  • Undertaking research for new business proposals and presenting to potential new clients
  • Becoming the key client contact on a number of smaller fee accounts
  • Understanding and managing budgets set, ensuring best value for client company
  • Ability to work to and meet deadlines
  • Ability to manage own time and understand service levels



  • Degree or relevant industry qualification
  • PR Agency experience (3 years or more)
  • Account management experience
  • Interpersonal skills, plus good presentation skills and confidence
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Flexibility, determination, enthusiasm and the ability to cope well under pressure
  • Good teamwork and negotiation skills
  • Ability to think strategically along with good analytical skills
  • Business awareness and a good knowledge of current affairs
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work on more than one project at a time
  • Creativity and imagination
  • Strong press contacts and impressive press cuttings portfolio
  • Ability to use initiative
