Consumer PR Senior Account Manager

My client is a well-loved integrated Manchester agency who is currently looking for a Senior PR Account Manager to work on mainly consumer clients across fashion, home interest, hospitality, tourism, construction, FMCG and also a couple of trade accounts.


They are looking for a natural self-starter, a driven team player who is passionate about communications. Happy to work in an independent and integrated agency, you’ll thrive on deadlines and challenges and be willing to jump in and work with a talented creative PR team within an award winning agency. You’ll provide significant support to the Group Account Director and will lead accounts and help to run the team.  FMCG / big brand experience is preferable and a sound understanding of trade PR advantageous.


You will help to provide creative and strategic direction, working alongside the Group Account Director.  Helping to devise and implement successful consumer and B2B campaigns and strategies. You will support a talented and creative team while keeping a firm handle on activity and budgets to ensure accounts remain profitable and work is of the highest standard.


Key Responsibilities



  • Writing and delivering strategic, creative and newsworthy campaigns that respond to a Client’s communication requirements
  • Devising profit generating ideas and campaigns
  • Advising clients on short-term and long-term PR activity
  • Taking a lead role in maintaining and strengthening relationships with Clients
  • Maintaining control over work produced and being responsible for the quality and ongoing success of campaigns and accounts
  • Being able to drive social media-led campaigns through the department – identifying opportunities and working with the Social Media Manager to excite the client, secure buy-in and implement the campaign/s
  • Have an excellent bank of media contacts to ensure opportunities for client coverage



  • Helping to manage and motivate the PR team, leading by example and best practice
  • Determining priorities and guiding work loads
  • Holding regular team update/status meetings and regular 121s with direct reports



  • Acting as brand guardian for both the agency and its Clients in all situations, ensuring a positive profile is maintained and taking appropriate and early action to rectify negativity
  • Promoting the various Agency services
  • Working with the Group Account Director to ensure correct allocation of account team and general agency resource on team accounts
  • Have responsibility for team’s financial status
  • Maximise income potential within the team and forecasting ahead accurately
  • Working with the Group Account Director and keep her updated with the progress of Client accounts
  • Working with the Group Account Director to proactively seek out new business opportunities for the agency with existing and potential Clients and develop and deliver creative and strategic proposals


Personal Attributes and Experience

  • Likely to have5/6 years experience in a solid PR agency / in the PR department of an integrated agency working with a mix of well known brands
  • Consumer and B2B experience
  • An eye for what makes a great campaign
  • The ability to write great copy including features, case studies, releases, blogs, and social posts
  • Excellent media contacts
  • Adept at and interested in social media
  • Experienced in managing a small team
  • Travel, lifestyle and home interest experience an advantage
  • Experienced in working on new business, including pitches
  • Strategically minded, confident and tenacious when leading clients
  • Proactive and a strong sense of intuition
  • An agile mind that can cope with multi-client demands – all needed quickly
